A company start page you control, without Group Policy.

You look after the computers at a company of ten to a hundred people. There is no Intune, no domain, no Chrome Enterprise console. Every new hire asks where the HR portal is. ReadyTab gives everyone one board they open in every new tab, read-only for them, editable from your desk, for one CHF 25 license.

01 / ONE BOARD

Everyone opens the same page.

Build the board once on your own machine: HR portal, ticketing, shared drives, the phone list, a step list for new starters. Staff subscribe with a token and see it in every new tab.

HR portal · Helpdesk · Shared drives · Phone list

02 / READ-ONLY BY DEFAULT

Change it from your desk.

Edit the board and the change reaches every subscribed browser within a minute. Hand an edit key to the office manager if you want, and revoke it on its own later.

Named edit keys · Revoke one at a time · Conflict review

03 / NOTHING TO DEPLOY

No MDM, no scripts, no seats.

Staff install the free extension from the store and paste one token. One Full license hosts the board for the whole company. Nothing is installed on the machine beyond the extension.

Chrome · Edge · Firefox · Brave

How to set a company start page in Chrome without Group Policy

What Chrome lets you do without a managed browser, the fixes that get tried first and why they stop working, and the setup: one board, one license, everyone subscribed.

Two more for this page

What IT can and cannot control in Chrome without Intune, and how to evaluate a browser extension before rolling it out to a team. Want one of them first? Say so.

The rollout

Three steps, one afternoon.

  1. Build the board on your desk.

Install ReadyTab, create a workspace and add the links, groups and a step list for new starters. This part is free and nothing leaves your browser. Quick start.

  2. Host it with Full.

Activate the license, share the workspace as a live board and set a board password if you want one. Create an edit key for anyone who should maintain it with you. Managed boards guide.

  3. Send staff the token.

They install the free extension, paste the token once, and the board appears in every new tab. From then on your edits reach them on their own. Installation guide.

Practical questions

What IT asks before saying yes.

Do I need Group Policy, Intune or Chrome Enterprise?

No. ReadyTab replaces the new tab page on each browser where it is installed. Staff install the extension from the store and join the company board with a token you send them. Nothing is pushed to the machine and no domain is required.

What do staff have to install?

The free ReadyTab extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Brave, and nothing else. They paste the board token once. The board then appears as a workspace tab in every new tab and refreshes on its own.

Can staff change the company board?

Not unless you give them an edit key. Boards are read-only by default. Named edit keys let you hand editing to an office manager or a department and revoke it again without touching anyone else.

What does it cost for 40 people?

CHF 25 a year, or CHF 52.99 once. One Full license hosts the board. Everyone who views or edits it uses the free plan. There are no seats. Pricing.

What happens if the person who owns the board leaves?

Export the board to JSON from the owner's browser before they go, import it under the new owner's Full license and send staff the new token. Boards are tied to the license, not to a person's account, because there are no accounts.

Can I stop staff from changing the new tab back?

No, and neither can any extension without a managed browser. A person can disable or remove an extension they installed. In practice the board stays because it is useful, which is the honest answer the guide gives too.
